Course Outline


Bachelor of physiotherapy is a four year full time academic programme with non semester pattern of examination


After passing the fourth year of education the student undergoes physiotherapy internship for a period of six months in various departments and scores a minimum of 50% marks in the compulsory scoring system after which he/she is eligible to apply for the convocation

Duration : 4 1/2 Years

Four academic years and Six months of physiotherapy internship

Toal Seat Intake : 50 Seats Per Year

Commencement of the Course

July 1​st of every year.

Eligibility


Candidates belonging to all categories for admission to the B.P.T course should have passed the higher secondary examination 12​th​ with 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Botany and Zoology .


Age limit: The candidate should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of Admission or would complete the age on or before 31​st​ December on the year of admission to the B.P.T degree course.

EXERCISE THERAPY DEPARTMENT (BIOMECHANICS AND MOTOR PERFORMANCE):
Exercise therapy lab (biomechanics and motor performance lab) supports teaching and research utilisation including motor performance testing of the spine and extremities and measures of static and dynamic balance. The cubicles are set up to simulate hospital and outpatient examination rooms. The treatment tables are adjustable in height to permit students height. Students become versatile in patient examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis and intervention.



WALKING SCHOOL:
Walking school is to ensure the rehabilitation of patients and provide functional restorative management in patients with various neurological conditions and orthopaedic conditions and paediatric and geriatric patients.



ELECTROTHERAPY DEPARTMENT:
The cubicles are set up to simulate hospital and outpatient examination rooms. Electrotherapy machines are a popular modality used in physiotherapy and rehabilitation. It uses an electrical machine that delivers electrical impulse to a patient body. This stimulation is done in order to promote and facilitate muscle healing and tissue regeneration.

Department of Therapeutic Exercise and Walking school

Therapeutic exercise includes strengthening exercise, endurance exercise, flexibility exercise and balance & co-ordination exercises. Our walking school provides advanced gait training for patients of all ages.

Therapeutic Gymnasium

We have one of the best fully equipped gymnasium. Doing strength exercise in the gym provides a great adjunct to treatment. Our gym setting is used to improve fitness, flexibility, athletic performance, core strength and muscle gain

Exercise Tolerance Testing

We have an exercise tolerance testing unit which uses an electrocardiograph (ECG) to check how heart works during exercise. The patient will be asked to exercise on a treadmill or an exercise bike. The exercise tolerance test to find out possible causes of chest pain and other symptoms, assess general fitness, irregular heart rhythms during or after exercise, monitor heart’s response to treatment.

Department of Pain Management

Physiotherapy treatment to relieve pain will include soft tissue massage, stretching, mobilization, Electrotherapy, corrective exercise, posture awareness etc...
